SceneBloom: Agentic Indoor Environment Generation with Realistic and Diverse Layouts for Embodied Learning

Yuhan Liu, Lianhui Qin, Shenji Wan

Abstract摘要

Training generalizable embodied agents requires realistic, varied, and simulation-ready indoor environments. Language-guided methods support semantic planning and object-level reasoning, but precise spatial grounding remains difficult. Visual generative models offer rich priors over plausible arrangements, yet their outputs require geometric reasoning to become physically valid 3D scenes. We introduce SceneBloom, an agentic framework that combines visual layout sampling with contract-guided 3D compilation. A hierarchical sampler uses diffusion priors to generate furniture arrangements within …

RynnUnify: Towards Unified Embodied Brain

Minghao Zhu, Bohan Hou, Kun Xiang, Zixuan Wang et al.

Abstract摘要

We introduce RynnUnify, a 16B unified embodied model that combines strong embodied understanding with long-horizon visual planning through interleaved video--language reasoning. With capabilities spanning spatial reasoning, physical prediction, and grounding, RynnUnify connects an understanding of the physical world with visual anticipation of how it evolves across successive subtasks. Building on these capabilities, we further develop an agentic extension through reinforcement learning to selectively use video predictions for reasoning about unobserved states and interaction outcomes. We …

DiscoDemo: Discovering Efficient and Diverse Robot Demonstrations for Imitation Learning

Minho Park, Kinam Kim, Donghu Kim, Byungkun Lee et al.

Abstract摘要

Behavior cloning for robotic manipulation is highly sensitive to the coverage of its training data, yet collecting diverse successful demonstrations remains costly. We study reinforcement learning (RL) not as a deployable controller, but as a data generator for downstream visuomotor imitation learning. Our key premise is that multiple successful solution modes cover a broader range of successful trajectories than repeatedly collecting a single narrow solution. We introduce DiscoDemo, which trains a privileged latent-conditioned RL generator with a parallel reverse curriculum and a …

Multimodal MPC via Bayesian Set Optimization for Dynamic Manipulation of Deformable Linear Objects

Youyuan Long, Gokhan Solak, Arash Ajoudani

Abstract摘要

Dynamic manipulation of deformable linear objects (DLOs) remains challenging due to underactuated, high-dimensional dynamics, delayed deformation responses, and the presence of multiple feasible motions under obstacle constraints. This paper presents BM2PC, a Bayesian Multimodal MPC framework for agile manipulation of DLOs. Building on the control-as-inference posterior, BM2PC formulates multimodal planning as a set optimization problem that balances control quality and behavioral diversity. An efficient incremental update maintains multiple promising control modes with low additional …

FLORA: An Open Model Suite for Scaling Robotics Data Engines

Sicong Leng, Yunze Man, Zhiqi Li, Jing Wang et al.

Abstract摘要

The life-cycle of robotics foundation models crucially depends on data labels. Outcome reward labels are needed for monitoring real-world deployments. Process reward labels are needed during RL post-training. Timestamped captions are needed for filtering and balancing pretraining data. We present Flora, an industrial-quality data engine used for training GR00T models, that simultaneously covers these capabilities. Flora achieves SOTA scores on the captioning benchmark WGO-Bench and reward benchmarks RoboReward and Robometer. On internal benchmarks it is competitive with GPT-6 Astra while …

RobustRLlib: A Unified Library and Benchmark for Robust Reinforcement Learning Algorithms

Xi Chen, Fengqi Hu, Zeyu Shen, Jiaying Xu et al.

Abstract摘要

Robust reinforcement learning (RL) is critical for reliable real-world deployment, where policies may fail under diverse shifts and disruptions. Existing robust RL algorithms offer a rich set of mechanisms and principles, yet two major barriers limit their broader potential: limited algorithm reusability and an unclear empirical capability boundary. We introduce RobustRLlib, an algorithm-centric library and benchmark that addresses both challenges. It integrates 17 representative robust online, offline, and safe RL algorithms under a unified interface for substantially improved reusability, …

DexPort: A Hand-Held Skill Interface for Dexterous Hand Data Collection

Amber Xie, Jiawei Fu, Xiaofeng Guo, Carmelo Sferrazza et al.

Abstract摘要

Collecting high-quality demonstrations remains a central bottleneck for learning dexterous manipulation. Teleoperation records executable robot actions, but it requires a complete robot setup and places the burden of coordinating many finger joints on the operator. Human demonstrations are easier to collect, but their motions must be estimated and retargeted to the robot, and they do not directly provide robot actions. In this paper, we introduce DexPort, a portable data-collection interface for high-DoF robot hands. It uses the same hand hardware for collection and deployment, avoiding a …

ViT-H: Generative Video-To-Humanoid Control with Motion Tracking Feedback

Zimo He, Tianyi Bian, Zizhong Yang, Hongjie Li et al.

Abstract摘要

Learning humanoid control from monocular human videos offers a scalable way to acquire diverse whole-body behaviors. Yet, existing reconstruction-retargeting-tracking pipelines are limited in system-level scalability by separately optimized intermediate stages and cannot directly optimize reference motion executability using downstream tracking feedback. We present ViT-H, a video-to-humanoid control framework following a generation-and-tracking paradigm. ViT-H directly generates humanoid reference motions from videos with a diffusion model, bypassing human motion reconstruction and …

Robotic Optical Coherence Tomography-Guided Geometric Modeling of Soft Tissue: 3D Representations for Data-Driven Closed-Loop Shape Control

Chaoyu Zhang, Guangshen Ma, Mark Draelos

Abstract摘要

In medical robotics, data-driven soft-tissue shape control requires deforming tissue toward desired morphologies through sequential physical interactions. This challenge is particularly important in microscale manipulation, where localized deformation is difficult to observe, represent, and control, while physics-based models can be computationally expensive and difficult to adapt to realistic environments. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) provides high-resolution volumetric perception of tissue deformation, but target-conditioned control requires effective representations of both observed …

If at First You Don't Succeed, Backtrack: Lightweight Recovery for Frozen VLAs

Thomas Landeg, Thierry Tambe

Abstract摘要

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models perform well on robotic manipulation, yet remain brittle once their own actions carry them into states their training data barely covers. Recovering from such failures usually requires recovery demonstrations, policy retraining, or a separate model at inference time. We introduce Backtrack, a lightweight failure detection and recovery mechanism for frozen VLAs that needs none of these. A small failure prediction head, trained only on outcome-labeled rollouts of the frozen policy, reads the VLA's existing internal representations to estimate whether the …

HoloBoxing: A Simple Recipe for Humanoid Boxing with 7 Minutes of Single-GPU Training

Xihan Ma, Bo Zhang, Boxiong Li, Yuhan Bao et al.

Abstract摘要

HoloBoxing presents a simple recipe for learning humanoid boxing by building on a pretrained whole-body controller. The recipe separates reusable motor skills from task decisions: a compact planner requests future body-point targets, while the frozen controller handles joint-level execution. A learned decoder maps 32-dimensional actions to structured target windows, and measured-state imitation initializes the planner before reinforcement learning. Task learning then refines interaction behavior while reusing the decoder and controller, avoiding the need to relearn whole-body control. This …

When Human Corrections Travel: Safety in Federated VLA Adaptation

Vigneshwaran Subbaraju, Obaidullah Zaland, Monowar Bhuyan

Abstract摘要

Vision-language-action (VLA) policies can adapt to local human intervention, while federated learning can combine distributed robot experience without pooling raw records. We examine their prospective intersection: sharing adaptations derived from diverse human corrections across tasks, environments, people, and robot embodiments. Corrections differ in modality, safety semantics(urgency, behavioral scope, etc.), and privacy sensitivity. A shared update that improves mean task success may suppress a rare safety intervention or produce an unsafe response on another robot. We argue for three …

Regularised RL improves sim-to-real transfer

Danilo Vucetic, Mohamad H. Danesh, Florence Clerc, Hsiu-Chin Lin et al.

Abstract摘要

Regularised reinforcement learning (RL) has provable robustness guarantees that should ease the transfer of policies from simulation to robots, known as sim-to-real. Yet, weakly regularised algorithms like Proximal Policy Optimisation (PPO) remain the de facto choice in sim-to-real pipelines, while the practical benefits of regularisation for transfer remain poorly characterised. In this work, we study the sim-to-real performance of commonly used RL algorithms, with the aim of characterising the effects of regularisation on robotic performance. To that end, we derive Soft MellowMax …

Predictive Long-Horizon Progress Modeling with Action-Aware Quantification

Tianchi Xu, Yalin Zheng, Yangxin Zhu, Ruonan Ren et al.

Abstract摘要

Quantitative and dense task progress feedback is essential for robotic manipulation across data curation, policy evaluation, and reinforcement learning. Existing progress annotations often rely on sparse keyframe markings derived from subjective manual judgments, limiting their scalability and cross-task consistency, particularly in long-horizon manipulation. To overcome these challenges, we propose action-aware quantification, a unified progress specification that decomposes long-horizon trajectories into object-level subtasks via a vision-language model (VLM) and assigns weighted action …

Semantic Representation for Agentic Self-Play in Automated Laboratories

Yves Delley, John Coller, Zachary Cutts, Alexander Daryin et al.

Abstract摘要

Navigating complex, high-dimensional biological search spaces necessitates scalable physical and computational intelligence to explore beyond local optima through iterative self-play across ideation, experimentation, and automation. Translating experimental designs into reliable physical execution remains bottlenecked by static laboratory automation and unmodeled physical variability. Adaptive World-Models for Anomaly Recognition (AWARE): A Framework for Robot Dynamics Prediction and Introspection

Luke Beddow, George Mavroghenis, Rodrigo Chacon Quesada, Kamil Dreczkowski et al.

Abstract摘要

Unrecognized anomalies in critical infrastructure can rapidly cascade into catastrophic physical or operational failures. Current anomaly detection approaches often rely on direct access to the monitored system by utilizing onboard sensors, such as motor encoders, to detect anomalous states. However, legacy hardware often lacks these sensors, or strict security protocols may prohibit access altogether. We therefore present AWARE, a world model framework that is capable of anomaly detection using only external camera monitoring via system dynamics estimation and state prediction. Evaluated …

Conditional Neural Processes for Self-Supervised Goal Discovery in Action Imitation

Marco Gabriele Fedozzi, Yukie Nagai, Francesco Rea, Alessandra Sciutti

Abstract摘要

Inspired by infants' ability to learn novel tasks by imitating others, in this work we evaluate to what extent Conditional Neural Processes can autonomously learn representations of actions that are informative about their underlying goal. We show that the addition of an attention mechanism in the hidden space fosters the emergence of robust goal representations early on in the observation of an action sequence, making it a promising model for a robotic self-supervised general learner.

Retiming Robot Demonstrations with a Learned Speed Prior

Seungyong Moon, Deokjae Lee, Hansang Lee, Munkhtselmeg Battsengel et al.

Abstract摘要

The pace of a robot demonstration is often determined by the teleoperator rather than by the task itself. As a result, the same motion can appear at widely different speeds across demonstrations, and policies trained on such data may inherit operator-specific timing along with task behavior. We propose to learn a speed prior directly from large-scale demonstration data. Given a task instruction, a motion path and the images along it, it predicts a distribution over execution speed along the path, from which a chosen quantile defines a consistent clock for retiming each demonstration. Existing …

Robust Offset-Free Lane-Keeping Control Framework for Vision-Only Automated Vehicles

Der-Hau Lee

Abstract摘要

Achieving accurate, real-time lane-keeping control during high-speed cornering on large-curvature roads while ensuring robust vehicle stability is a critical challenge in autonomous driving. To address this challenge, this study developed a robust offset-free model predictive control (OF-MPC) framework for vision-based autonomous vehicle lane-keeping. The regulation problem in this framework is solved using several algorithms. Numerical simulation results indicated that the interpolation-tube-based constrained iterative linear quadratic regulator (itube-CILQR) algorithm outperformed solvers …

Monte Carlo-Based Indoor UAV Localization in Dynamic Environments Using Only Four Onboard Range Sensors

Mohammad Reza Ranjbar Divkoti, A. Pedro Aguiar

Abstract摘要

Indoor UAV localization with minimal onboard sensing remains challenging, particularly in dynamic environments. We propose augmented filtered Monte Carlo localization (AF-MCL) for 2D localization using only four single-point range sensors and measured heading. AF-MCL rejects range measurements inconsistent with the known static map and adaptively injects particles to recover from localization divergence and kidnapping. Beam classification is performed only at the previous position estimate, making its ray-casting cost independent of the particle count. The particle distribution additionally …

Can AI Agents Help Robotic Engineers? Lessons from Two Focus Days in Industry

Salim Fares, Steffen Herbold

Abstract摘要

Software developers increasingly use AI agents that execute multi-step programming tasks on their own. However, it is unclear if and how this transfers to robotic engineering, where engineers program industrial robots in niche, vendor-specific languages and rely on visual feedback from simulation tools. Within this paper, we report a case study on the use of AI agents by an SME that programs industrial robots. Our results show that the agent did not make the engineers more productive, with the exception of a task that required the generation of highly repetitive code. However, the results …

Natural-Language to Nav2: Operational Policies for Costmap-Based Navigation

Jiyeong Chae, Hyunkyo Seo, Heonjae Lee, Kyung-Joon Park

Abstract摘要

Autonomous mobile robots support material transport in warehouses and industrial facilities, where navigation must adapt to changing operating conditions. Sensor observations reveal physical obstacles, but do not by themselves specify temporary access rules, route preferences, or exceptions known to operators. This paper presents a natural-language policy interface that brings this knowledge into ROS 2 Nav2. A local large language model converts instructions into JSON policies specifying destinations, spatial constraints, and temporal or event conditions. Deterministic checks govern mission …

OWLS: Open-world Language-conditioned Speed Fields for Zero-Shot Rover Navigation

Chahyon Ku, Erica Tevere, Georgios Georgakis, Rudra Mukherjee et al.

Abstract摘要

Semantics can provide a proxy for physical traversability. Terrain that looks like loose sand or a rock field is likely to have similar physical properties. Open-vocabulary vision-language models (VLMs) enable this physical reasoning over terrain outside any fixed label set. We present Open-world Language-conditioned Speed Fields (OWLS), which plans directly over the dense feature map of a VLM. Prompted with a description of traversable terrain, the VLM scores every pixel of a single camera image; OWLS projects these scores onto the ground, adapts them to the platform with two morphological …

Abstract摘要

Supervising a multi-UAV reconnaissance mission usually means plotting waypoints and watching every drone. We present UAV SwarmAgent, a hierarchical multi-agent system in which an operator states the mission in one natural-language sentence and a ground-station agent writes and executes code that turns it into per-UAV routes. The agent grounds inspection targets in an aerial map with a vision-language model, splits them among N UAVs by balancing route length, and dispatches worker agents that verify incidents with a compact onboard decision model. HGWM: Hierarchical Graph-Guided World Model for Zero-Shot Object Navigation via Graph Matching

I-tak Ieong, Hao Tang

Abstract摘要

Zero-shot object navigation requires an embodied agent to choose where to search while retaining evidence from previous observations. HGWM couples an LLM-generated room-anchor prior with persistent spatial-semantic memory. A coarse stage assigns visual-semantic scores to candidate headings on a 0-10 scale; a fine stage measures symbolic compatibility between observed objects, room context, and the goal prior. Phase-dependent fusion combines these scores with an LLM direction recommendation before local action selection. On HM3D v0.1, the reported HGWM configuration achieves 62.6% success rate …

Facultative Swarming: A Capability, Not a Category, for Multi-Robot Systems

Ning Zhou, Edmund R. Hunt

Abstract摘要

Collective robotics is split by a long-standing but increasingly artificial boundary between centralised multi-robot systems that prioritise optimality and decentralised swarms that prioritise robustness and adaptivity. We propose a unified control framework, shifting from `obligate' swarms---systems constrained to pure self-organisation---to facultatively swarming systems: hybrid architectures that operate as centrally planned systems under permissive conditions yet degrade gracefully into decentralised swarming under environmental stress. By reframing swarming as a dynamic capability, …

From Freehand Demonstrations to Autonomous Robotic Ultrasound: An Anatomy-Anchored Learning Framework

Yuan Bi, Fangxu Han, Ye Su, Yiping Zhou et al.

Abstract摘要

Ultrasound imaging is highly operator-dependent, motivating robotic systems that reproduce expert scanning skills consistently. These skills involve coordinated interpretation of anatomical landmarks, ultrasound images, and probe-tissue interactions that are difficult to encode in hand-designed control strategies. Imitation learning offers an alternative, but its observation and action representations should reflect the anatomically structured nature of scanning. We propose an anatomy-anchored imitation-learning framework that combines anatomy-guided probe placement with learned ultrasound …

CoCarry: Contact-Support-Structured Retargeting for Dual-Humanoid Cooperative Carrying

Ziyu Lin, Shihang Du, Tianhang Wang, Xiaodong Liu et al.

Abstract摘要

Recent advances in large-scale human motion data, motion retargeting, and motion imitation have enabled increasingly capable whole-body control for individual humanoids. Cooperative carrying is more challenging because successful coordination requires not only plausible individual motions, but also consistent cross-agent and agent-object relations, including shared grasp, relative configuration, and whole-body support. We introduce CoCarry, a cooperative-carrying dataset containing 220 synchronized two-person sequences across 21 task schemes, five shared-object geometries, four terrain types, …

$R^2E:$ A Role-driven Reward Evolutionary Framework for Automated Reward Function Design

Shouhao Chang, Xuan Liu, Hongye Zhu, Xinning Chen et al.

Abstract摘要

Designing effective reward functions is a critical challenge in Reinforcement Learning (RL), which traditionally requires costly manual trial-and-error. While Large Language Model (LLM)-based methods have shown promise in reward design, undifferentiated sampling and limited use of historical feedback often lead to insufficient exploration of the reward space and optimization instability. To address these challenges, we propose $R^2E$, a Role-driven Reward Evolutionary framework for automated reward function design that structures the process through explicit role specialization. $R^2E$ …

When to Stop Penalizing Actions? Martingale GRPO for VLA Reinforcement Learning

Zongyao Zhao, Cheng-Jie Zhao, Ruihang Jiang, Bing Zheng et al.

Abstract摘要

A failed vision-language-action (VLA) rollout does not imply that every action contributed to failure. Yet in group-relative policy optimization (GRPO), a single trajectory-level advantage is assigned to all actions in a rollout. Potentially useful recovery attempts can thus be penalized alongside the errors they aim to correct. Ideal stopping conditions for failure feedback are characterized using success-probability and policy-score martingales. At these stops, the removed gradient contribution has zero conditional expectation given the retained information. Truncation therefore preserves …

Graphs of Trajectory Bundles for Nonlinear Motion Planning

Joris Verhagen, Jon Arrizabalaga, Jana Tumova, Zachary Manchester

Abstract摘要

We present the Graphs of Trajectory Bundles (GTB) method for motion planning of systems with nonlinear and black-box dynamics, combining sampling-based motion planning with trajectory optimization and graph search. Based on a graph-of-convex-sets decomposition of the workspace, GTB iteratively constructs a graph of trajectory bundles that captures the local dynamics of the system at any vertex. By solving a shortest-path problem on this graph, we find maximally dynamically feasible iterates that satisfy the system's dynamics in the limit and any constraints such as collision avoidance or …

LogLook: Execution-Grounded Memory for Frontier-Model Robot Planners

Tianyi Jiang, Tianyao Tong, Zhenshan Bing

Abstract摘要

Many manipulation tasks require a robot to remember what it has done and what it has seen. Frontier vision-language models can plan such tasks without task-specific training, but how such a planner should remember an episode is an open question. We argue that its memory must keep track of what the planner has done and learned, and must let the planner choose what to look at, since every frame costs tokens; a note rewritten at every step meets both poorly. We propose LogLook, whose execution-grounded memory lets the system keep the record, an execution log and the model's earlier notes, while …

DynaSlots: Slot-Centric 3D Dynamics Pretraining for Robot Manipulation

Meng Li, Lijiang Chen, Qi Zhao, Jun Jiang et al.

Abstract摘要

Robot manipulation involves localized changes: picking up a cup moves the cup while leaving the surrounding scene largely unchanged. Yet existing 3D visual pretraining methods, including recent dynamics-aware variants, model state transitions at the scene level, compressing the motion of everything in a scene into a single global latent action. This conflates semantically distinct transitions in scenes with multiple moving parts, obscures dependencies between changing regions, and leaves the learned representation vulnerable to task-irrelevant scene content. We introduce DynaSlots, an …

MAST-VLA: Skill-Conditioned Adaptation with Trajectory-Affordance Priors for Multi-Skill Robot Manipulation

Jiachi Yang, Zhiyi Xu, Hongquan Zhang, Xin Tan et al.

Abstract摘要

Generalist robot manipulation requires a single vision-language-action (VLA) policy to execute diverse skills across scenes and instructions. However, current multi-skill VLA policies often leave two aspects of an instruction insufficiently modeled: which primitive skill to execute and where/how to contact and move objects. We propose MAST-VLA (Multi-skill Adaptation with Skill-conditioned experts and Trajectory-affordance priors), a dual-conditioning framework for robot manipulation. MAST-VLA introduces skill-conditioned LoRA Mixture-of-Experts (LoRA-MoE) adapters in the LLM backbone, where …

Delay Randomization Widens the Delay Margin of Learned Humanoid Motion Trackers

Shaoqin Li, Yi Sun

Abstract摘要

Learned humanoid controllers are usually trained in one simulator and then checked in a second one before they go near hardware. We ask what that check says about command delay. We train motion-tracking policies for a 24-joint humanoid on five motions taken from monocular video and test them in an independent CPU MuJoCo harness, which we first verify against the training model. Every policy completes its motion in at least 26 of 30 episodes under the training randomization. With 40 ms of constant command delay, however, survival drops to 15% on average (0% - 45%), and the delay margin is only …

From Tabletop to Walking Bot: Deploying a VLA Model on a Legged Manipulator Robot

Giovanni Minelli, Antonio Langella, Giovanni B. Dessy, Lorenzo Amatucci et al.

Abstract摘要

Vision-language-action (VLA) models are typically pretrained on broad, diverse datasets and subsequently fine-tuned on a comparatively small dataset tailored to a specific target robot. Such adaptation recipe is now widely established, achieving its most mature results on fixed-base arms due to their static base dynamics and consistent reference frame. Mounting the same arm on a quadruped extends the workspace to the entire floor, but fundamentally changes the embodiment: rather than controlling the arm in isolation, the policy must jointly coordinate base navigation, body posture, and …

Incremental-Smoothing-Based ARAIM Protection Levels for Tightly Coupled GNSS/IMU Integration in Urban Canyons

Abstract摘要

Protection levels (PLs) bound position errors under specified fault hypotheses and risk budgets, but advanced re-ceiver autonomous integrity monitoring (ARAIM) is formulated for snapshot GNSS estimation rather than the correlated poste-rior of tightly coupled GNSS/IMU factor graph optimization (FGO). This paper formulates ARAIM solution separation and PL computation on the FGO posterior. Because current-epoch pseudorange factors enter only the current-state block of the fixed-lag information matrix, the fault-excluded position covari-ance, solution separation, and nominal-bias propagation …

RoboCode: Learning Reusable Action Primitives for Robot Manipulation

Xianyue Peng, Devi Amarsaikhan, Iman Soltani

Abstract摘要

Recent robot manipulation policies commonly predict continuous action chunks directly from observations, without explicitly modeling reusable structure in the action space. However, manipulation demonstrations often contain recurring short-horizon motion patterns that are shared across tasks. We introduce \textsc{RoboCode}, which learns these patterns through a shared soft-gated primitive action interface. Rather than assigning each action chunk to a single discrete code, \textsc{RoboCode} represents it as a soft composition of multiple learned primitives, providing a flexible intermediate …

Do VLAs Know They Will Fail? Interpretable Success and Failure Patterns in Physical AI Systems

Christian A. Rogers, Qian Lin, Daniel S. Brown

Abstract摘要

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have emerged as powerful general-purpose robot policies, but their successes and failures remain difficult to diagnose and understand. In this work, we show that sparse autoencoder (SAE) representations of OpenVLA activations contain outcome-predictive information and can be used to predict task failure before the robot reaches an unrecoverable state. Moreover, to provide insights into what common behaviors may contribute to these outcomes, we identify individual SAE features whose strong activations are associated with specific stages of success or …

Abstract摘要

Contact angle (CA) is a common parameter measured in the development of novel contact lens materials and surface coating technologies. Existing literature on in vitro CA of contact lenses via the sessile drop method is hindered in repeatability, reliability, and comparability due to inter-laboratory and inter-operator protocol variation. In this work, the Robotic Autonomous Imaging Surface Evaluator for vision applications (RAISE-Vision) is introduced as an automated platform for CA measurement on curved hydrogel surfaces, with specific application to in vitro contact lens wettability …

Geometry-Aware Reinforcement Learning for Close-Fitting Wearable Insertion

Takuma Tsukakoshi, Elle Miller, Tamon Miyake, Namiko Saito et al.

Abstract摘要

Robot-assisted dressing is particularly challenging due to narrow openings and articulated body parts. Even small errors in the relative pose between the body part and garment opening can cause snagging, missed insertion, or incomplete dressing. To address these challenges, we formulate dressing as a geometry-aware insertion problem that represents task-relevant spatial relationships between the body part and object opening, rather than relying on the full deformable-object state. Based on this formulation, we propose a Reinforcement Learning (RL) framework combining a staged curriculum, …

Abstract摘要

Traversability analysis in off-road settings remains a fundamental challenge for mobile robots. Key difficulties include constructing an accurate and expressive local map from multimodal sensor data, and using the map to design traversability rules that yield desirable navigation behavior. Importantly, this system must be resilient to the limited sensing regime brought about by complex environments and high speeds. In this paper, we present TravSUITE, a traversability system suitable for high-speed navigation in off-road environments. TravSUITE consists of two major components: 1) an …

Coupling Execution Horizon and Sampling Depth in Flow-Matching VLA Policies

Jiabing Yang, Yuan Xu, Yixiang Chen, Qisen Ma et al.

Abstract摘要

Flow-matching Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models generate expressive continuous trajectories for robotic manipulation, yet balancing real-time responsiveness with execution stability remains a persistent challenge. Standard deployment workflows typically treat numerical solver depth and execution horizon as decoupled choices. The horizon amortizes inference latency, while solver depth is kept high to preserve integration fidelity. In this paper, we reveal a fundamental compute-execution coupling in flow-matching VLAs governed by a systematic sign reversal. While coarse numerical integration …

However, coordinating two manipulators under inter-arm collision avoidance, orientation alignment, and sensing uncertainty remains challenging. Abstract摘要

Intent recognition in human-robot interaction requires agents to resolve ambiguous natural language instructions by inferring the speaker's underlying goals. Research has increasingly focused on two notable paradigms for addressing this task: structured symbolic reasoning and multimodal input enrichment. However, it remains unclear whether enrichment-based methods provide benefit in settings where the ambiguity concerns unstated human intent rather than missing observable scene information. In this paper, we present a comparative and diagnostic study benchmarking FISER - a framework utilizing …

Robotic Budding: From Homogeneous Cells to Diverse Morphologies in Physical Self-Reproduction

Siyuan Zhang, Junyan Liu, Wanglin He, Hod Lipson

Abstract摘要

Physical self-reproduction in modular robots remains difficult because a robot must not only move, but also collect, align, dock, and separate modules reliably in hardware. Taking inspiration from how genetically identical cells form the varied tissues of an organism, we introduce a single standardized robotic module that combines a magnetic docking interface with two actuated joints and folds from a flat, two-dimensional configuration into three-dimensional structures. Modules of this single design can be assembled into two morphologies: a three-module "trilobite" and a five-module "seal". …

Abstract摘要

As humanoid robots move from research laboratories toward deployment in human-centered environments such as homes, hospitals, and warehouses, safe operation around nearby people and objects becomes a fundamental requirement. Safety filters have emerged as a promising technique to address this challenge by providing mathematical guarantees that generated control actions do not result in collisions. This paper shows that these guarantees hold only when the safety parameters are configured correctly. However, correct parameter configurations are task- and environment-specific, and no general …

Input Bias Correction in Gaussian Process Regression

Muzaffar Qureshi, Tochukwu E. Ogri, Trivikram Satharasi, Kyle Volle et al.

Abstract摘要

In traditional Gaussian process (GP) regression, the inputs are typically assumed to be known, and uncertainty enters only through the measurements. When scalar fields are mapped using GP regression with measurements obtained from a mobile sensor, the inputs correspond to the estimated pose of the mobile sensor. The goal in this letter is to understand how a recorded GP, trained on erroneous inputs (e.g., pose estimates from dead-reckoning), can be corrected in a numerically efficient way when better estimates of the inputs become available. In the developed bias-aware GP (Ba-GP) framework, …

Distributed Swarm Morphogenesis with Neural Cellular Automata

Ray Verma, Eliseo Ferrante, Anthony Tzes

Abstract摘要

Swarm morphogenesis requires robots to assemble desired shapes through local interactions. We present a modular framework integrating neural cellular automata (NCA) with existing site selection and collision-aware control. Within this framework, we introduce a decentralized attachment-site discovery mechanism. Robots already in the formation update and share local NCA states to identify new attachment sites, enabling progressive growth without a predefined list of sites during deployment. To bridge the mismatch between conventional NCA growth and gradual physical assembly, we additionally …

Silence Is Not Assurance: When Production Lane Keeping Assist Does Not Warn, and What It Costs

Tianjia Yang, Yuxin Ding, Ke Li, Kaidi Liang et al.

Abstract摘要

Production lane keeping assist (LKA) systems tell the driver whether they detect the lane markings, but whether this displayed status reflects what the system perceives, and what happens when it does not, has not been examined in real-world driving. This study introduces CANDID-LKA, a CAN-based Diagnosis of the Indicated Detection status in LKA. It evaluates a proprietary driver-facing status using three signals: the displayed status and the steering torque of the driver, both recorded from the controller area network (CAN) bus of the vehicle, and the lane perception confidence of a …

Move, don't think: sample-efficient collision avoidance with lossy proximity sensors

Carson Kohlbrenner, Niraj Pudasaini, William Xie, Naren Sivagnanadasan et al.

Abstract摘要

Data-driven robots must learn to avoid collisions with as few demonstrations as possible to avoid collecting large datasets of destructive collision examples. We explore whole-body proximity sensors as inductive biases for learning reflexive collision-dodging behavior and find that lossy sensors with low resolution were stronger biases than high-resolution coverage. We also found that, perhaps unintuitively, anticipating when and where contact happens on the body of a robot reduced its learning sample efficiency. We investigated eight candidate representations in a reinforcement learning …

Emergent Cooperative Thermoregulation in Lunar Swarm Robotics

Anais Jeger, Harry Holt, Lennart Puck

Abstract摘要

Swarms of small robots are an attractive way to survey lunar caves and lava tubes. Missions such as NASA's CADRE will fly cooperating rovers for distributed mapping, but only in daylight. The 354 h lunar night drops the surface towards 95 K, and the radioisotope heaters that let single rovers survive it cannot be supplied at swarm scale. In this study we investigate whether a swarm can instead use its own members as thermal shielding. We train one policy, shared by all twenty robots, by reinforcement learning with an evolution-strategies estimator. The policy receives a single reward, once, …

Full-Weight VLA Fine-Tuning Without an fp32 Master Copy Silently Erases Most Updates

Shubham Singh

Abstract摘要

When a vision-language-action (VLA) model is fine-tuned with its trainable weights in bfloat16 (bf16) and no fp32 master copy, AdamW writes each update straight into bf16, silently rounding away any update smaller than 1/512 of a weight. In 9 of 12 open VLA codebases a default or documented recipe trains this way, 4 on full weight matrices, including LeRobot's SmolVLA default and its $\pi_0$/$\pi_{0.5}$ guides. In our LIBERO runs without the copy, a probe every 100 steps finds at least 79% of updates to bf16 weights erased. On the Hugging Face Hub, 99% of sampled full-weight SmolVLA …

EgoForesight: Effectively Scaling Policy Learning with Noisy Egocentric Actions

Chubin Zhang, Changyuan Wang, Yirui Wang, Ao Li et al.

Abstract摘要

Scaling policy learning requires broad experience and reliable supervision. Robot demonstrations provide high-quality trajectory supervision but are costly to collect. Egocentric videos broaden task and environment coverage, yet motion reconstruction and retargeting introduce noisy action labels. To address this challenge, we introduce EgoForesight, a vision-language-action framework that learns jointly from both sources by reducing the influence of unreliable action labels and exploiting demonstrated outcomes as complementary supervision. A joint vision-action flow couples future visual …

FORCA: A Force-Aware Coding Agent for Contact-Rich Robot Manipulation

Xiao Tan, Yixuan Wang, Zhexi Wang, Wenzhen Yuan

Abstract摘要

Coding agents can translate language instructions into robot programs. For contact-rich manipulation, a key challenge is to generate and refine control logic that responds to physical interaction. We present FORCA, a coding agent that takes visual observations and wrist force/torque (F/T) measurements as input to write Python programs for contact probing and force-responsive motion. Between executions, the agent inspects force records alongside visual outcomes to diagnose failures and revise both motion and force-feedback control logic. FORCA requires no demonstrations, task-specific …

SAGE: A hybrid vision-language and geometry framework for work-zone pathway prediction under temporary traffic control

Jiaxi Liu, Keshu Wu, Weizhe Tang, Bofeng Cao et al.

Abstract摘要

Temporary traffic control redirects vehicles through work zones, requiring automated vehicles to connect an interpretation of the visible devices to a continuous passing path. Geometric predictors can provide several plausible paths, yet selecting the one consistent with the temporary control remains difficult. We propose SAGE (Semantic-to-Action Grounded Execution), a read-decide-execute-check framework that separates path construction, path preference, and control compliance within a shared candidate space. The central idea is to use a vision-language model's (VLM's) trajectory as a …

WorldMirror: Agentic Real-to-Sim Generation of Interactive Worlds from In-the-Wild Robot Demonstrations

Tianling Xu, Weijie Wan, Honghao Su, Kailun Su et al.

Abstract摘要

Existing approaches for robot learning in simulation often require substantial manual effort to construct scenes and specify tasks, limiting training scalability and data diversity. Meanwhile, in-the-wild robot demonstrations naturally provide diverse and realistic observations of real-world interactions. Leveraging these demonstrations for simulation requires both high-fidelity visual reconstruction and physically consistent interactions. General-purpose agents offer flexible adaptation to diverse scenarios and strong reasoning about 3D spatial relationships, while specialized generative …

SEVI: Safe Evidential Real-World Reinforcement Learning

Shaekh Mohammad Shithil, Lantao Liu

Abstract摘要

Real-world reinforcement learning has enabled contact-rich manipulation tasks to be trained directly on physical robots, but unsafe interactions during online learning remain a key barrier to practical deployment. We propose Safe Evidential Real-World Reinforcement Learning (SEVI), a framework for reliability-aware safety intervention during real-world policy learning. SEVI introduces an Evidential Safety Critic that estimates both future constraint-violation risk and epistemic uncertainty in a single forward pass. During online learning, SEVI evaluates each task-policy action before …

PrefO2O: Zero-Shot Preference-Based Reinforcement Learning via Offline-to-Online Latent Preference Transfer

Ruiqi Wang, Dezhong Zhao, Xuesu Xiao, Erdem Biyik et al.

Abstract摘要

Preference-based reinforcement learning (PbRL) has emerged as a promising paradigm for learning robot behaviors aligned with human intent. However, its scalability is fundamentally limited by the need to collect expensive human preference labels for every new task. In this work, we present PrefO2O, an offline-to-online latent preference transfer framework that enables zero-shot PbRL on unseen target tasks without requiring any human feedback. The core idea is to learn a task-invariant latent preference space from a small amount of offline preference data on source tasks, where transferable …

StackGen3D: Stable 3D Block Stack Generation from Multiview Silhouettes

Xiaopeng Zhang, Luzhe Sun, Yiqing Xu, Matthew R. Walter

Abstract摘要

Generating physically stable 3D structures from visual specifications requires resolving geometric ambiguity while accounting for physical interactions among objects. We present StackGen3D, a framework for generating stable block assemblies conditioned on a given block inventory and three orthographic silhouettes. Our approach consists of two stages. First, we develop a physics-informed graph neural network (PI-GNN) that models support relations between blocks and serves as a fast stability predictor for curating a diverse dataset of stable structures. Second, we train a conditional …

KiRoSe: Using Kinematic Data for Efficient Segmentation of Robot Demonstrations

Shuangyu Xie, Kaiyuan Chen, Muhammad Zubair Irshad, Richard Cheng et al.

Abstract摘要

Segmenting robot demonstration data into disjoint temporal and semantic subsegments is valuable for learning, cleaning, retrieval, and analysis. Segmentation is often performed manually in a tedious and error prone process. Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have the potential for automating this process, but directly ingesting raw multi camera video streams into MLLMs can be costly and can quickly exhaust context windows. In this paper, we introduce KiRoSe (Kinematics for Robot Segmentation), a novel framework that focuses on the companion stream of robot kinematic data. Inspired by …

PnP*: A certifiable solver for Perspective-n-Point

Bang-Shien Chen, Caitrin E. Eaton, David M. Rosen

Abstract摘要

Estimating a camera pose from 3D-2D correspondences - Perspective-n-Point - is one of the most fundamental problems in computer vision. Existing methods either solve a minimal problem or replace the objective with an easier one. Surprisingly, no scalable certifiable solver for the actual Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) exists. We propose PnP*, the first practical solver that guarantees efficient computation and returns a certifiable globally optimal solution. We prove that the underlying convex relaxation is exact under moderate noise, which to our knowledge is the first stability …

See What I Need, Dream What I Want: A Navigation Foundation Model on a Self-Constructed Representation Space

Jiawei Chen, Yinxi Wang, Zihan Yang, Meijun Gao et al.

Abstract摘要

What visual representation should a navigation policy act on? Navigation policies built on vision foundation models largely leave representation design to the encoders' pretraining objectives. We present RepresentNav, a navigation foundation model built on a self-constructed representation space: a visual representation constructed by the policy's own objectives from vision foundation models. RepresentNav builds this space with Representation Residuals, a compact three-layer transformer that attends over features spanning the full depth of multiple complementary vision foundation models, so …

Does LeWorldModel Preserve Local Action Geometry?

Vasil Vasilev, Siddharth Nayak

Abstract摘要

We examine how closely pretrained LeWorldModel (LeWM) reproduces the effects of small action changes. Using matched simulator and model responses, we measure action sensitivity with Gram matrices at three perturbation scales. Across nearly a thousand states from Reacher and OGBench Cube, the most sensitive action directions differ by median angles of about $36^\circ$ and $42^\circ$, respectively, at the smallest scale. Increasing the perturbation tenfold reduces median normalized Gram discrepancy by roughly 70\% on Reacher and 47\% on Cube. Geometry measured in pixels and embeddings varies …

The effect of limb kinematics on the speed of a legged robot on granular media

Chen Li, Paul B. Umbanhowar, Haldun Komsuoglu, Daniel I. Goldman

Abstract摘要

Achieving effective locomotion on diverse terrestrial substrates can require subtle changes of limb kinematics. Biologically inspired legged robots (physical models of organisms) have shown impressive mobility on hard ground but suffer performance loss on unconsolidated granular materials like sand. Because comprehensive limb-ground interaction models are lacking, optimal gaits on complex yielding terrain have been determined empirically. To develop predictive models for legged devices and to provide hypotheses for biological locomotors, we systematically study the performance of SandBot, a …
